Message from Executive Director |
"Oh, the joys of those who are kind to the poor. The Lord rescues them in times of trouble."
- Psalm 41:1
WELCOME to C.A.R.E., PHILIPPINES' website! On behalf of our U.S. and Philippine Boards of Directors and the hundreds of poor we are serving in the Philippines, I welcome you to our site. Thank you for taking the time to visit and see God's work among our poor in the Philippines. We are happy to introduce ourselves to you and let you know about our ministry's 21 years of service to the poor, our mission's background, vision, mission, goals, statement of faith and an overview of our ministry programs. There will also be stories of real people whose lives have been changed dramatically by the power of God's Word through our biblically-holistic approach in alleviating the physical & spiritual poverty of children, men and women. If you are in the Philippines, particularly in the Metro Manila area, we invite you to come to our Education Center in Bgy. San Jose, Antipolo City. You will be delighted to meet our people personally and hear their stories first-hand of the TRANSFORMING power of God's Word through the commitment and dedication of men and women He has called to love and serve the less fortunate of our society. History of God's Faithfulness |
|
As early as 1982, Rose A. Biron, Ed.D. had been sensing God's call for her to engage in a mission that would minister to the poor of the Philippines. Finally in 1987, Dr. Biron left her professional career as a teacher-educator in the United States to establish C.A.R.E., Philippines or Christian Action for Reconciliaton and Evangelism, Philippines, in obedience to that call. With the help of her husband Atty. Melo Biron and friends Dr. Jack and Ellie Swanson, Dr. Biron worked to incorporate C.A.R.E., Philippines as a charitable institution in the state of Illinois, USA and the Philippines that same year. Dr. Jack Swanson and Bishop Efraim Tendero served as the first chairment of the U.S. and Philippine Boards of Directors, respectively. Dr. Biron has been serving as Executive Director of C.A.R.E., Philippines since its founding. C.A.R.E Philippines established its first outreach in one of Metro Manila's most economically-depressed urban areas, Tatalon, Quezon City, in September of 1987. Today, C.A.R.E., Philippines reaches out to several poor communities in Antipolo City, Metro Manila and nearby provinces with its various education and social action programs. All programs seek not only to lead individuals to a saving faith in Jesus Christ but also to lift them out of socio-economic poverty, endorsing them to a local church. |
