Dear friends and family,

After a long hiatus, we've finally updated the website with the March 2010 newsletter.  Please use Adobe Acrobat software to open the newsletter. In this edition, we look upon God's grace in preserving us from the rampaging typhoons of 2009 and the development of our geriatric ministry and the meetings we enjoyed with St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Enjoy!

End of October Update

C.A.R.E. Philippines ministry continues to help cleanup the devastation created by typhoon Ketsana that struck the Metro Manila area on September 26th. Although the ministry facilities were flooded and the school needed to be closed for a week, thankfully, there were no death casualties in the ministry. Many of the houses of their beneficiaries in the adjacent squatters shantytown were swept away by the flooding. The torrential downpour destroyed the ministry’s office, located closer to Manila. It housed all of the communication equipment for C.A.R.E. Philippines.

In the process of seeking help and assisting those in need, the focus remained on Christ. For instance as Rose negotiated with a man called in to try to salvage some of the electrical equipment, she first lead him to a saving relationship with the Lord. The early days of the flooding, when nothing could be done physically to alter the situation, the morning prayer time extended further into the day asking for God’s mercy and provisions. (This daily gathering of the staff and parents of school children for prayer and study is from 6 AM until school time.)

As things slowly return to equilibrium, please pray that the basic needs of shelter, food, health care, clothing, work, plus trust and obedience to God will be granted those touched by the ministry of C.A.R.E. Philippines. Rose, Melo and the staff always request prayers for strength, energy, guidance, and vision.

Last month it there was excitement about the purchase of a facility to serve as a communication center for business and for teaching, but the house was taken off the market, as family members of the owner needed it when their home was swept away by the typhoon. So please continue to pray for a building in an area capable of receiving communication lines to become available to purchase. The lack of reliable internet and telephone service hinders the ministry, and the computer education of the students will be greatly enhanced when they can access the internet.

The school is a strong foundation and hub for what is accomplished in outreach through C.A.R.E. Philippines. Your prayers for the staff, students, and families are always appreciated.

When you support this ministry, you are definitely assisting in building God’s kingdom. Lives are transformed on a regular basis through this vital ministry in the Philippines. Wonderfully the changed lives are not only those in need of the services, but also those who are involved as patrons and servants have been transformed or renewed.

Please know that your partnership as a person of prayer and financial supporter is received with deep gratitude. Thank-you for your affirmation and encouragement.

Dear Ministry Friends,
Greetings from “summery” Antipolo, Philippines. It’s really summer in the Philippines, but with the crazy weather conditions we are experiencing, we have frequent heavy downpours in the midst of the hot season.
We thank God for the beautiful 2008-2009 school year which ended last month. We are truly grateful for your faithful prayers and support that enabled us to accomplish successfully the two main goals of our education-school ministry, The Light of the Lord Christian School: development of godly character and academic competence among our school children.
It’s a joy to share with you their message of thanksgiving and happiness.

Typhoon Aid

Dear family and friends,

Typhoon Ketsana has wreaked havoc in much of Metro Manila. My grandparents, Melo and Rose Biron, have been working steadfastly for the last 22 years to bring aid and assistance by the grace of God to the poorest of the poor through their ministry, C.A.R.E., Philippines. They have been hit especially hard by this typhoon, and we are sending out the attached newsletter to help bring their plight to a wider audience. Please keep them in your prayers, especially in light of the possibility that yet another super-typhoon (Pepeng) may be touching down in Manila within this week.

Thank you,

Joshua
